With its focal length of 100mm to 400mm, the Vario-Elmar-SL offers extremely versatile application possibilities. Especially when photographing and filming animals, nature, sport and action, it brings you close to distant subjects. For shots with the unmistakable Leica look and outstanding image quality. The optical image stabilizer and precise autofocus capture even fast movements sharply. With its compact design and flexible handling, the telephoto Vario lens allows you to react quickly at any time - thanks to the L-mount bayonet, not only in combination with SL cameras.

Construction in detail
The optical design of the Vario-Elmar-SL 1:5-6.3/100-400 consists of a total of 22 lenses in 16 groups. The outer lenses each have a water and dirt-repellent Aqua-Dura® coating.
The ARCA-SWISS compatible, detachable tripod base is also extremely practical and convenient. This can be inserted directly into a suitable coupling system without a quick-release plate and therefore offers a secure hold at all times when using a tripod. The lockable tripod clamp allows the Lens to be fixed at any angle. A noticeable click-stop every 90 degrees enables a quick change between portrait and landscape format.
Even closer with the optional Leica Extender L 1.4x
If a focal length of 400mm is not sufficient, the range can be increased by a further 1.4 times, i.e. up to 560mm, with the additionally available Leica Extender L 1.4x. With its compact dimensions, it fits into any pocket and can be quickly and flexibly combined with the Leica Vario-Elmar-SL to form a powerful unit. Thanks to the connection between the extender and the Lens, the camera recognizes the extended focal length and aperture and writes them into the image data as usual.

The content may be used, modified and published by the aforementioned parties at their own discretion without any restrictions in terms of time, content and location.
